Latest Cincinnati Starling News - January 17, 2018

Hello!

I am Christina Nam. I’m writing to let you know that I have been awarded a place in the Menuhin Competition Geneva 2018, the world’s leading competition for young violinists dubbed “the Olympics of the Violin”. The Menuhin Competition selects 44 violinists under the age of 22 from across the globe and brings them together for an 11-day celebration of the violin.

My name is Christina Jihee Nam; I’m 15 years old, and have been playing the violin for 11 years. I live in West Chester, Ohio. I am a 10th grader at Walnut Hills High School. I am studying violin with Prof. Kurt Sassmannshaus in the Starling Project at University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music.

I’m really excited to be participating in the Menuhin Competition because it is considered the most prestigious competition for young violinists. I will get to know and learn from the best talented violinists including both participants and jury members from all over the world.

The Competition will take place in Geneva, Switzerland in April 2018.
