Cincinnati Starling

The Cincinnati Starling Project is a specialized pre-college program for talented young string players at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). In addition to private lessons, chamber music, and music theory, and the Starling Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Starling uniquely offers many solo opportunities to perform concertos with live orchestras as part of its curriculum. String quartets founded in this program were honored with gold and silver medals at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, and many of our young artists have won prizes in major international competitions. Students have moved to Cincinnati with their parents from foreign countries to benefit from these opportunities.To find out more about this program and how you can join, write to director@starling.org. Students and Alumni

Starling Project students and alumni have won prizes in national and international contests such as the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, The China International Violin Competition, and the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. In addition to performing regularly in Cincinnati, the Starling Chamber Orchestra has toured throughout Europe, China, and Korea.

Our annual series of Starling Showcase concerts provides students the opportunity to perform solo works with an orchestra. The Starling Chamber Orchestra Series features works for String Orchestra, chamber music performances and works for violin, viola or cello with piano or with orchestra.
